Sado City's linked type is designed so that "the larger the national subsidy for a model, the larger the city subsidy": for a car with a ¥800,000 national CEV subsidy, up to ¥400,000 (the cap) is added by the city, potentially reaching a combined scale of ¥1.2 million. The one thing to watch is the short application deadline of within 60 days of registration.

Is a subsidy taxed?
An EV subsidy an individual receives is treated as occasional income. Because there is a special deduction of ¥500,000 per year, it is not taxed if, combined with other occasional income, it stays within ¥500,000 for the year. The national and municipal subsidies combined usually stay within this, but watch the total in a year when you receive several large subsidies. Business use is treated differently, so consult a tax accountant or the like.
